Spearfish Junction is from Boulder County and plays country and swing. Band members have played professionally in venues across the country and our backgrounds reflect American music from Buck Owens to Ella Fitzgerald to Bob Wills.

Spearfish Junction delivers a unique mix of country, western swing, traditional swing and a few surprises for your listening and dancing enjoyment! We’re a band that loves to have fun with our audience — sometimes that means a clever lyric or a quick-witted remark, other times it’s just the joy of sharing a great song together. We enjoy audience participation and the occasional bit of mischief in our act.

Who Are We?

Spearfish Junction started in 2023 when a vocalist and two guitarists got together to play their favorite types of music. We decided to form a band and it became clear that country music and swing were the styles we were going to play - an unusual combination, but one that would lead to originality.

Our lively performance always includes creative interpretations of both recent and vintage tunes from Buck Owens to Ella Fitzgerald to Bob Wills - and, of course, a high level of musicianship and vocal harmonies.

We're a 4-piece, mostly acoustic band based in Boulder County featuring three lead vocalists, acoustic guitar, pedal steel, upright bass, and an occasional electric guitar. Our experienced personnel have played in other bands across the nation on the festival and concert circuits, even including multiple appearances on National Public Radio's Mountain Stage program. Our lineup is:
    Kae Sterjis - vocals, percussion
    John Wyatt - vocals, lead & rhythm guitar
    DC Robnett - pedal steel, electric guitar
    Thumper Hogwallop - vocals, upright bass

The musical styles range from 2-stepping classic country to jitterbugging swing and rockabilly to jazz standards. It's a delicious smorgasboard of American music and dance.
